Suggesting visitors a perfect tour of the “Eternal Town” is not that easy, because of the enormous and unmeasured heritage of beauties.
However it’s important for us to give you here a few information about some of the most famous places, to give you the chance to start one of the most interesting adventures and discoveries.
Reaching Rome, pleasant and splendid in every corner, street, square, park or monument, in all the unique “salons” of the historical center, wrapped in the atmosphere and fascination of the ancient times, it’s the starting point of a unique experience.
It’s enjoyable walking through Navona Square, stopping right in front of the Fountain of the four Rivers (1600) made by Gianlorenzo Bernini, and from there, reaching the Pantheon.
In Rome you can take advantage of the modern system of means of transportation that allows you to reach every single part of the town. You can mainly use two underground lines (Line A and Line B).
When you reach di Saint Peter’s Basel, wonderful example of the Roman architecture of the Renaissance, in the Square you feel wrapped in the imposing columns of Bernini, and when you enter the main Basel your eyes are filled with all the beauties and masterpieces of the best artists such as Raffaello, Michelangelo and many others.
It’s extremely pleasant walking in a sunny day through the small streets, in the squares and through the monuments in the City Center of Rome. Visiting all the main Basels, the Ancient Forum and the Colosseum; from the Basel of “Saint Giovanni in Laterano” to the Colosseum or through Via del Corso up to Piazza del Popolo, from via Condotti to piazza di Spagna with the main Fountain “La Barcaccia” and the scenographical stairs of “Trinità dei Monti”, and, in the end, if you are able to reach up to the top of the stairs, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the city. Up on the stairs you can also find the beauty of the Church “Saint Luigi dei francesi” and admire the pictorial masterpieces of Michelangelo.
You cannot miss the pleasant “promenade” along the Roman “Lungotevere” with all its ancient bridges.
These are only a few of the main beauties quickly described, but the visitor could be surprised and enriched more and more, and will not be able to forget Rome for ever.
Mirko Bed and Breakfast in Rome will be glad to have you as a guest and to make your visit in Rome the most pleasant it is possible.
You can reach the heart of the city centre from our B&B… you can get to the center and visit the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, the Imperial Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Via del Corso, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, as well as San Giovanni square, home to the customary May Day concert.
Piazza Navona has colorful stalls you can browse and portrait artists who will whip up your likeness or that of a celebrity in a matter of minutes, or you eat an excellent home made ice-cream to the sound of Bernini’s fountain that dominates the square. The famous Testaccio district is a short trip away, with its trattorias serving fine Roman cuisine.
The Trastevere district with its picturesque alleyways and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere will revive your summer evenings with the book shops and jugglers, stilt walkers and fire eaters.
Piazza Santa Maria has become a place of music and song, as well as a meeting place for students from all over the world (Rome’s American John Cabot University is nearby).
Trastevere is also the area where Rome’s summer festival is held, the Festa De’ Noantri, a bustling fair with candy stalls and children’s rides, as well as the Sunday Porta Portese market where a range of goods can be found at low prices, including the likes of T-shirts, CDs and antique furniture, all recalled in song by the popular Roman musician Claudio Baglioni.
The beautiful Roman castles are within easy reach of our B&Bs, favoured destinations for out-of-town excursions to local fetes with the typical array of flowers, wine tasting and local dishes. Frascati, Genzano, Castel Gandolfo lake and Ariccia, famous for its “porchetta”(roast pork on a spit) are among these destinations.
