6 reasons you should use Spotify to stream music online

Today, Spotify is one of the biggest digital streaming platforms and has radically changed the music business.

Spotify is a digital streaming platform launched in 2008 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon. It provides DRM protected content from different record labels and media companies. It boasts an extensive library which contains different forms of media, such as music, video and even podcasts. Spotify utilizes a freemium model i.e. the basic features are available for free with advertisements, but other advanced features, such as high-quality streaming or downloading music needs a paid subscription.

Today, Spotify is one of the biggest digital streaming platforms and has radically changed the music business, services such as Spotistar help artist succeed on this platform everyday. However, if you are someone who loves music and has not started using Spotify yet, here are 6 reasons why you should start using it immediately:

  1. Listen to Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist:

Every Monday morning, Spotify curates a playlist of songs to match your recent listening habits. Think of it as a weekly mixtape which is made just for you. So far Spotify’s algorithm has received a lot of praise and the Discover Weekly feature is loved by almost everyone. It allows you to discover new artists and songs which may become your favourites in the future. Both free and paid subscribers can avail this amazing feature.

  1. Get back a deleted playlist:

Spotify lets you recover a playlist which you accidentally deleted in the past. To get back a deleted playlist, you need to go to your Account page, select the ‘Account Settings’ option and click on Recover Playlists. This process is simple and a major time saver. Therefore, you won’t need to put in time and effort to recreate a playlist again.

  1. Listen to your favourite music in the offline mode:

We all love listening to music while travelling. But when you’re on a train or a plane, your device may get disconnected from the Internet in certain places. Under normal circumstances, online streaming would be difficult in such situations, but Spotify solves this problem by allowing you to listen to all your favourite tracks in the offline mode. By subscribing to Spotify’s premium membership, users can download up to 3,333 songs on their device. This feature allows you to take your music with you wherever you go and also saves your mobile data.

  1. Take part in karaoke sessions:

With Spotify, you can easily turn your computer into a karaoke machine. To enable this feature, start playing the music track you want to sing and ‘Lyrics’ option located in the bottom right-hand corner of the page. This feature displays scrolling lyrics on the window for every song you listen to. Previously, you needed to visit an external website to find the lyrics to your favourite tracks. But Spotify did away with that and now you no longer need to bounce between websites to sing along to any song. If you can’t recall the name of a song but remember some of its lyrics, in Spotify you can also search for that song by just typing out its lyrics.

  1. Listen to Spotify Radio:

If you’re not in the mood to create a playlist and want to listen to something at random, sit back and let Spotify Radio make the choice for you. All you have to do is go to the Radio option and select the ‘Create a new station’ option. Next, you need to select a music track, artist, album, or playlist, and Spotify will play music based on that.  Spotify Radio selects music based on your preferences. You can also personalize the station while listening to make any changes in your preferences. This feature lets you discover many previously unheard of artists and songs.

  1. Switch to the private mode to hide your activity:

The community feature in Spotify is great because it informs you what your friends have been listening to and allows you to share your music preferences with them. But sometimes, you may prefer to keep your music preferences discreet and hidden from everyone in your friend list. For instance, you may not be comfortable with all your Facebook and Spotify friends knowing that you have been listening to Britney Spear’s Toxic on repeat for over 10 times. In such situations, you can temporarily hide your activity by switching to the private mode on Spotify. The process to enable a private mode is quite easy. Just go to the File menu and click the ‘Private Session’ option from the drop-down menu. This allows you to listen to all your guilty pleasures without anyone finding out.

There are numerous online streaming platforms, but the above-mentioned features make Spotify stand out. To improve your music streaming experience, you should definitely give Spotify a try.
